US Eastern Fleet

 
 
The Manchester Yacht Club will be hosting a two day event on Saturday - July 31, and Sunday Aug 1st.  We are inviting all classes of one design boats to race, given that at least three boats from your class participate. The Rhodes 19 and Megabyte Class will be well represented. Our hope is to see Optis and 420’s out on the line as well. The One Design Weekend is built around the core racing of the normal fleet and invited guests. In the Megabytes, we will have 12-14 boats on the line and we encourage people to come out. We have SEVERAL Megabytes left that are unreserved, so please contact Schuyler Glidden at sglidden@sgidirect.com or call 978-526-7522 to reserve. There is also a club Megabyte that is available during the year to get some practice in this June and July! Last year we had participants from Canada and Florida. This year we are hoping to add a few from the West Coast Fleet.
 
Event overview: Racers will gather Friday night JULY 30TH for a pub crawl, starting at the Landing (a good local watering hole) with a dinner upstairs at 7PM. Dutch treat. Here we will wine, dine and share tales and boast of future results. Expectations are running high that we can hit all four bars in town before being shuttled home to sleep in our boats, warmly wrapped in our sail covers. Saturday morning Skippers meeting will be at 9AM and the first Gun is at 10AM. Breakfast will be served promptly at 8:30AM until 9AM at the MYC.  Lunch will be provided on the water to all racers. Expect Mr. Glidden to provide a nice bag lunch of award winning home made sandwiches. Tips appreciated in the form of full Mt Gay bottles you may have previously won!  Last gun will be at 3:30 and we should be off the water by 5pm. Drinks and light food will be provided starting at 6pm. Heavier fair and more drinks will be provided from 7pm on.  Dancing and music may be a possibility later in the night.  Sunday morning we do it all over again, but just a bit later!  Breakfast at the MYC from 10:00- !0:30AM  First Gun is at 11:00AM – last gun in 3:00PM – Lunch on the dock at 4pm. Water will be available on the course from the stake boat. At 4:30pm we will have the awards presentation. The traditional “Sunday Social” will begin at 4:15PM.
 
I expect a high turn out and the full support of the sailing community of the MYC to talk this up and get some power boats out there with spectators
