(06/02/2009)2009 Megabyte Midwinters East
The South-East Fleet got the 2009 schedule rolling this month by hosting the Mids East. The south Florida weather was perfect with mostly flat water and wind that built from 8-10 up to 15-18 near the end of the day. Greg Berger retained his title by winning his 2nd Midwinters East in a row. Greg also won back-to-back Midwinter titles in 2003 and 2004.

(07/29/2008)Landmark crossing from Cabrillo Beach to Catalina Island
Megabyter Joe Motil and "Waterdog" (Megabyte #181) sailed from Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro across to Avalon on Catalina Island, CA on 6/28/08 – 6/29/08. The total round trip distance is approximately 59 miles. Although Joe had crossed the channel plenty of times on much larger boats he'd always wanted to try it on a smaller, single-sail monohull. We believe this crossing might be the first-ever in a Megabyte. Good on you, Joe!

Finally!! The new MKII rig
After a little over 18 months of development, the new Megabyte MII rig is now in production. Ian Bruce, the person behind the original concept of the Megabyte and the builder of the boat, talks about the rig, the reasons for it's development and addresses the question "Why do we need a new rig when we are happy with the one we have?" It's a valid question!
